LAKE ELSINORE - The City of Lake Elsinore announced that the Railroad Canyon Road Widening Project is underway and milling will begin on the roadway and Southern California Edison (SCE) will start the relocation of five power poles on the Eastbound side of the road.

As a result, from Monday, Jan. 14 to Thursday, Jan. 18, the city is anticipating that one lane may be closed at various times and locations on both sides of the roadway during construction hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

Rain is forecasted Monday through Thursday and may halt construction and cause delays for the project. Commuters are urged to allow themselves additional time and/or to choose alternate routes during construction to avoid significant delays.

Alternative routes include Lost Road via Bundy Canyon, Highway 74 to Greenwald for Canyon Lake Residents, and Highway 74 or Bundy Canyon Road to Interstate 215.
