Road closures begin because of flooding

GLEN IVY - A four-lane street in Glen Ivy was shut down in several spots on Monday, Jan. 14 because of flooding.

The Riverside County Transportation Department closed two segments of Temescal Canyon Road this morning after they became submerged during downpours.

The corridor was shut down at Trilogy Parkway and Glen Ivy Road, just west of Interstate 15, between Corona and Lake Elsinore.

Most of the area is under a mandatory evacuation order due to the threat of flooding, mud and debris flows stemming from the winter storm that rolled in before daybreak.

Public safety officials were keeping a close eye on other roads that front the nearby Cleveland National Forest, where burn-scarred terrain is allowing heavy runoff to pour into communities.
