PERRIS - A traffic stop in Perris resulted in the arrest of three people when deputies found a loaded, stolen handgun and drug

paraphernalia in the vehicle, a sheriff's sergeant said on Saturday, Jan. 12.

The stop occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Friday near North Perris Boulevard and Orangetree Drive, said Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Sam Morovich.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found the .38 caliber Walther handgun along with drug paraphernalia, he said.

What led deputies to search the vehicle was unclear.

Andrew Escalante, 21, the driver, and one of his passengers, Sara Silvas, 26, both of Perris were booked into jail on suspicion of various felony gun counts.

They remained behind bars in lieu of $10,000 bail each.

A second male passenger, Luis Perez, 23, of Perris, was arrested for allegedly possessing drug paraphernalia.
