Local riders compete as Monster Energy AMA Supercross season kicks off in Anaheim

The season opening Monster Energy AMA Supercross event was held at Angels Stadium in Anaheim Saturday, Jan. 5.

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series kicked off Saturday, Jan. 5, with its 2019 season-opening race at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, and the Inland Empire was well represented. Several local riders excelled in both the 250SX and 450SX categories.

Riding in the 250SX heats were Murrieta riders: No. 34 Dylan Ferrandis, No. 36 Michael Mosiman, No. 40 Sean Cantrell and No. 72 Martin Castelo as well as Wildomar rider No. 67 Enzo Lopez and No. 321 Bradley Lionnet of Menifee. Ferradis, Mosiman, Castelo and Lionnet all advanced to the 250SX Main event with Ferrandis taking second place overall.
