East Dam at Diamond Valley Lake is named after Boronkay

When Carl Boronkay was the general manager of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the district identified the need for the Diamond Valley Lake storage facility. The water district board voted Jan. 8, to name the East Dam at Diamond Valley Lake the Carl Boronkay Dam.

Boronkay was on the MWD staff from 1976 to 1993. He was the senior assistant attorney general in charge of the public resources section of the state attorney general’s office before joining MWD in 1976 as assistant general counsel. He became MWD’s general counsel in 1980 and held that position until 1994...
