Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade and community barbecue marches through Murrieta

Hundreds of residents and visitors to Murrieta's historic downtown Monday, Jan. 21, gathered along the sidewalks to enjoy a parade and barbecue celebrating the life of famed Civil Rights champion Martin Luther King Jr. and the holiday he inspired, Monday, Jan. 21.

Parade goers were treated to marching bands, colorful costumes and some mouthwatering barbecue following the parade which stepped off along Washington Avenue at 10 a.m.

The community event, part of a weekend-long celebration, also featured local vendors, entertainment, live music and award presentations.
