HEMET - A Hemet boy was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking to school on Wednesday, Feb. 6, and investigators asked for the public's help in identifying the motorist.

The youth, whose injuries were said to be non-life-threatening, was hit about 9 a.m. near the intersection of Acacia Avenue and San Jacinto Street, less than a block from the main entrance to Acacia Middle School, according to Hemet police.

Sgt. Dan Reinbolt said a woman behind the wheel of a light-colored sedan hit the boy just before making a turn to go west on Acacia from San Jacinto.

Witnesses were unable to obtain a license plate number of the car, which "may or may not have damage to the front end or hood,'' Reinbolt said.

Anyone with information was urged to call the Hemet police traffic bureau at (951) 765-2400.
