HOOP! to raise funds for cancer resource center

Last updated 2/21/2019 at 12:13pm

Temecula - Hoop! There It Is, a free throw contest hosted by Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center, will host participants of all ages, with regulation size hoops. The free throw contest will have multiple rounds, mimicking a March madness bracket. Each team will consist of two shooters with 10 shots in each round.

The top teams in each bracket will move to the next round. But, if a team is willing to do so, they can move on to the next round with a “buy-in”.

“This idea was brought to me by Dr. Jerry Hizon, and I loved the idea of bringing families together to raise money for the MP Expansion” said Melissa Rada, Program Manager at Michelle’s Place. “And, because the space won’t be built out yet, we will be able to host the contest inside of our new building”.

Michelle’s Place moved to a larger space last year and is currently under construction to build their “forever home”. All proceeds from the free throw contest will go towards the expansion of Michelle’s Place, which has opened its services to all cancers.

“This is a unique opportunity for the community to come together, have some fun, see our progress, and of course, raise some money” said Rada.

HOOP! There It Is will be held at noon Sunday, March 10 at Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center.

You can register online at michellesplace.org/events. Beer, food, and refreshments will be available for purchase.

If you have any questions, please contact Rada at [email protected] or (951) 699-5455.
