LAKE ELSINORE – Residents may have seen them out on the Lake Elsinore levy picking up trash Saturday morning, or maybe residents have seen them at the McVicker Fire Station filling sandbags and wondered who the students are volunteering their time to help the community. The students are from the Interact Club at Temescal High School. Interact Club is a service club for youth ages 12 to 18 who want to connect with other youth and have fun while serving their communities.

The Interact Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lake Elsinore and meets at least twice a month on campus. They elect officers every year and select projects that interest the students. The Interact Club at Temescal High School has 154 members, and they have at least one project per month including, but not limited to, those named above and car washes for fire victims, volunteering at the Senior Center and drawing school murals at local elementary school sites.

Temescal Interact advisors are Brittany Driesler and Crystal Espinoza.

"Our students are ready and willing to help and they always have a great attitude," Driesler said. "Often they invite Interactors from other high schools to join them with a project. The students enjoy the service and have a lot of fun while helping the community. Some of these students will make great Rotarians when they are adults. Our current Rotary club president, Alex Ela, was an Interact student at Lakeside High School."

The Rotary Club of Lake Elsinore meets Wednesday mornings at 7 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at the Ortega Conference Center at 520 Chaney St. in Lake Elsinore. An evening extension group meets at 6:30 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Stadium Pizza in Lake Elsinore. For information about Rotary programs, contact President Alex Ela (951) 231-8476 or Public Relations Chair Mary Brown at (951) 746-8364.
