HEMET - A Hemet police officer was recovering on Wednesday, March 6 from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle collision that happened as he was responding to a call.

The patrolman, whose name was not released, was taken to a Hemet-area hosptail for treatment of unspecified injuries following the crash about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Central Avenue and Juanita Street, said Hemet police Lt. Nate Miller.

He said that as the officer was driving through the intersection, going to investigate an incident with his roof-mounted light bar illuminated, his patrol unit was impacted on the driver's side by a compact Honda Del Sol.

"The officer was alert and speaking with medical staff (immediately after the collision),'' Miller said.

The occupants of the Honda were examined by paramedics at the scene but declined further medical treatment, according to Miller.

No one was arrested.

The crash remains under investigation.
