High school math competition showcases local students

The Inland Valley is admired for its English, science and Advanced Placement options, but one Temecula teacher made it his mission to add mathematics to the list.

Last year, Steve Maxey organized an annual high school math competition at Great Oak High School that is put on by students from the Mathematics Honors Society. He said he wanted to recognize the many talented math students that attend local schools and illustrate that the local mathematics programs are thriving.
