The Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival offers camping at Lake Skinner.

TEMECULA – Each year campsites for the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival sell out in less than an hour. Situated at the Lake Skinner Recreation Area and surrounded by the southwestern Riverside County 14,000-acre multi-species preserve, a campsite at the festival is a premium experience.

Campers have the best seats in the house for the early morning hot air balloon launches as they awake to skies filled with colorful balloons. Friday and Saturday evening include the magical balloon glow and concerts on two stages. This year's event is May 31 through June 2. Reservations for campsites started March 5.

Campsites range from $325 for a dry campsite to $475 for a full hookup site with water, power and sewer. This includes three days, two nights – Friday and Saturday – and two weekend combo-passes. Each combo pass provides admission all three days of the Festival. Extra nights are available. All campsite reservations are made online at http://www.tvbwf.com. Extra nights are purchased through the park at (800) 234-7275.

The Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival offers morning hot air balloon launches, two evening balloon glows on Friday and Saturday wine tasting from up to 20 wineries, concerts on two different stages, food and wine pairing and chef demonstrations.

"This event hits all the senses – amazing sights, popular sounds, tastes, aromas of food and wine, and the ability to be in touch with nature," Stacey Ellison, festival executive director, said. "Photographers love the visuals of the dawn balloon ascensions over the lake. This makes camping during the event the extreme festival experience."
