Valley-Wide Recreation seeks certified lifeguards

HEMET – Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District is now accepting applications for certified lifeguards to work at the Diamond Valley Aquatic Center in Hemet.

Under general supervision, lifeguard duties include: applying life-saving and swimming principles and practices; applying first aid principles and practices; performing maintenance and cleaning services of the pool and other assigned areas; passing initial and follow-up tests of safety and pool procedures as well as successfully completing routine skill testing such as backboard drills and CPR reviews and attending and participating in staff in-service training and exercise workouts.

The paid positions require the availability to work a flexible schedule that may require night, holiday and weekend shifts. The pool, located near Diamond Valley Lake, will be open from May 11 to Sept. 28.

Applicants must be at least 15 years old, be a strong swimmer and possess a certificate of completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding class with CPR/AED first aid clearance. Valley-Wide will offer a lifeguard training courses in March and April.
