CORONA - The coroner's office on Sunday, March 10 publicly identified a Fullerton man who jumped to his death from an overpass onto the 91 Freeway in Corona.

The incident was reported just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday on the eastbound side of the freeway, just east of the Interstate 15 interchange.

Initial reports indicate that the man was wearing a red plaid shirt and jumped from a transition road connecting the northbound 15 to the westbound 91 where a grey vehicle was parked.

The CHP said the victim was struck by multiple vehicles and landed in the center lane.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as Jason Birrell, 42.

A Sigalert was issued and authorities closed the HOV and number one and two lanes for several hours, snarling traffic.
