Buffalo 'Buffy' drops her chips to help Hemet Sunset Rotary PolioPlus program

Local musician Rocky Zharp plays his guitar and harmonica at the Saturday, March 16, Sunset Rotary Buffalo Bingo and Barbecue dinner at the Jones Ranch at 590 S. Sanderson Ave. in San Jacinto.

Members of Hemet Sunset Rotary and their friends watched patiently Saturday, March 16, to see when and where Buffalo "Buffy" would drop her chips on a turf grid at the Jones Ranch on Sanderson Avenue in Hemet.

Buffy was in no hurry, but her eyes were rolling in displeasure at the anxious crowd, not aware her chip drop might mean a $1,000 cash prize to the onlookers and help children worldwide.

The Hemet Sunset Rotary Buffalo Bingo and Barbecue Dinner was the club's effort to send money to help eradicate the threat to children from polio around the world through vaccination.
