Few things are scarier than looking into the future, and "Into the Woods" takes a look at what really happens after happily ever after.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, "Into the Woods," now playing at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, is a sight to behold for young and old theater goers alike.

This modern twist on classic fairy tales including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel, is "all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with a witch who has put a curse on them," according to one respected theater critic.

In the Fine Arts Network's retelling of the story, the characters inhabit a pastoral neighborhood in which witches and bakers are next door neighbors, handsome princes from once-parallel fables are competitive – and equally vain – brothers, and all the stories intersect through unexpected new plot twists.

"Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical intertwines classic fairytales with a contemporary edge to tell stories of wishes granted and "the price" paid. Joseph Arreola and Brittany Campbell are co-directors teamed up with Rachel Bailey as music director to bring a charming and thought-provoking look at the familiar tale with actors from all over Southern California," according to a press release from the Fine Arts Network.

The production stars Eric Little as the Narrator, Shannon Murphy as the Witch, Dakota Malbrough as the Baker's Wife, Jaylen Baham as the Baker, Aaron Gibbs as Jack, Robin St. John Kouri as Jack's Mom, Jacquelyn Peterson as Cinderella, Tanner Vidos as Cinderella's Prince/Wolf, Raquel Deporto as Cinderella's Stepmom, Renee Bailey and Grace Wade as Cinderella's Stepsisters, Shealagh Burke as Cinderella's Mother, BreeAnna Adler as Rapunzel, Priya Mapleton as Little Red, Brandon Gonzalez as Rapunzel's Prince, Morgan Morris as Steward, Sarah Gibbon as Granny/Giant and Christopher Campbell as Cinderella's Father.

With imaginative sets an extraordinary cast and fantastically talented live orchestra, "Into the Woods" is one show theatergoers don't want to miss.

"Into the Woods" is playing at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, 42051 Main St., in Temecula now through March 31. For tickets or more information, visit http://www.temeculatheater.org or call (866) 653-8696.
