TEMECULA - A rescue helicopter hoisted an injured hiker to safety from a remote location east of Temecula on Saturday, March 23.

The injury was reported at 1:08 p.m. at the Dripping Springs Trail, which ventures into the Cleveland National Forest, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The hiker, who was reported to be seriously injured, was located about four miles into the trail, fire officials said.

Once securely in the helicopter, the hiker was flown to an awaiting ground ambulance, which drove the hiker to a hospital.
