Murrieta teen lifts her way to greatness for Team USA

Devyn Kim, a junior at Murrieta Mesa High School, placed fourth in the world at the 2019 Youth World Championships for Olympic Weightlifting Tuesday, March 12, in Las Vegas.

One local Murrieta teenager's star is shining bright in the world of weightlifting these days. Devyn Kim, a junior student-athlete at Murrieta Mesa High School, placed fourth in the world at the 2019 Youth World Championships for Olympic Weightlifting held Tuesday, March 12, in Las Vegas. Kim was the only athlete chosen to represent Team USA in the 64-kilogram or 141-pound female weight category.

The tenacious teenager works out daily, usually in San Diego with her primary coach CJ Martin from CrossFit Invictus in San Diego, but she also trains in Murrieta at CrossFit By Overload, whic...
