LAKE ELSINORE - A three-vehicle crash prompted a full closure of the southbound Interstate 15 just north of Lake Elsinore on Saturday, March 30 and resulted in injuries to seven people.

The crash was reported at 4:16 p.m. south of the Lake Street off-ramp, the California Highway Patrol said.

A pickup and two other vehicles collided, causing one to flip on its side, according to a CHP incident log.

First responders also found one person trapped within the wreckage, the CHP said.

The CHP reported that two air ambulances would be landing on the freeway to transport patients to a hospital.

Two crash victims required removal from vehicles by firefighters, the Riverside County Fire Department said.

In all, two victims with serious injuries were taken to hospitals via air ambulances, one victim with moderate injuries and four victims with minor injuries were taken to hospitals by ground ambulances.

A SigAlert was issued, and all lanes were closed on the southbound Interstate 15. All lanes were reopened at 6:23 p.m.

CHP officers diverted motorists off the freeway via the Lake Street off-ramp.

The stretch of freeway affected is the main thoroughfare for "Super Bloom'' visitors.
