PERRIS - A tractor-trailer overturned at a Perris intersection on Friday, March 29, rolling into a ditch and spilling oil and gas.

The crash was reported about 2:30 p.m. at Harley Knox Boulevard and Webster Avenue, the Riverside County Fire Department said.

The driver apparently lost control while making a turn, and the big rig went onto its side, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Firefighters found the man outside the truck, making calls to his company about the condition of the contents in the trailer, according to reports from the scene.

He did not require medical attention.

A battalion chief requested a hazardous materials team after four to five gallons of oil was spotted on the roadway, as well as a small quantity of fuel leaking from one of the 40-gallon saddle tanks under the rig.

The hazmat unit was mopping up the fluids and expected to complete the clean-up before 4 p.m., the fire department said.

No roads were closed as a result of the crash.

Sheriff's deputies were investigating.
