WINCHESTER - A body was found in a vehicle where a fire broke out on Monday, April 8 in Winchester.

Riverside County Fire Department crews were sent to the area of La Ventana Road and Olive Avenue to douse a spot fire about 1:40 p.m. A car that had been abandoned where the blaze started was searched by firefighters, who discovered the body.

"All we have at this point is that there was a fire, a car and a body in the car,'' sheriff's Deputy Robyn Flores told City News Service.

There was no immediate word on how the fire started. The flames were knocked down in 15 minutes and did not threaten any homes or other structures in the rural area.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff's Hemet station at (951) 791-3400.
