Sheriff to receive reimbursement for sending deputies during fires

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved a compact between the Ventura and Riverside County sheriff’s departments to ensure the latter is compensated for dispatching deputies to assist during the Woolsey and Hill fires, which together consumed 100,000 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties last fall.

A formal memorandum of understanding between the agencies was required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a condition of disbursing relief funding to cover the expenses incurred by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, according to documents posted to the board...
