Council approves placement of sign honoring former mayor

Members of the Temecula City Council hold up the Karel Lindemans Memorial Bridge sign during the council's April 7 meeting. Lindemans served on the very first Temecula City Council in 1989 and was the city's mayor in 1996. The sign will be placed on Overland Drive.

With several members of his surviving family in attendance, the Temecula City Council voted unanimously to approve the placement of the Karel Lindemans Memorial Bridge sign on Overland Drive at the council's Tuesday, April 7, regular meeting.

Lindemans, who was elected to Temecula's inaugural city council in 1989 – along with Ron Parks, Pat Birdsall, J. Sal Munoz and Peg Moore – continued to serve for almost a decade and he was the city's mayor in 1996.

Lindemans died in 2012 at his home in Cathedral City.
