HEMET - Members of the Hemet Sheriff’s Station and agents with the California Alcoholic Beverage Control, conducted a shoulder tap operation with minors under the age of 21 years of age that resulted in the arrest of four adults on Wednesday, April 24.

The operation involves a minor under the direct supervision of a peace officer standing outside a liquor or convenience store to ask patrons to buy them alcohol. The minor tells the adults in some way he or she is underage and cannot purchase the alcohol.

If the adults agree to purchase alcohol for the minor, deputies and agents then arrest and cite them for furnishing alcohol to the minor.

During the Wednesday operation at three retail licensees in the unincorporated area of Riverside County known as Valle Vista, four adults were arrested. According to police, the penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service.
