Andres Vallejo of Good Hope was arrested and booked at Cois Byrd Detention Center for Grand Theft of Livestock.

GOOD HOPE - A man that Lake Elsinore Police said stole a horse worth $50,000 were able to catch up with him by following the tracks the would-be horsethief left behind during the crime in unincorporated Good Hope on Saturday, April 20.

The horse taken was a Friesian Stallion and once fully trained can be worth approximately $50,000.

Deputies responded to a request for service when employees at a local horse boarding and training ranch, located in the 21000 block of Olive Avenue in Good Hope, discovered one of the horses had been taken from the ranch.

With the assistance of employees on horseback, they located hoof tracks leading from the boarding area. The tracks led them to a property approximately two miles away.

That's where deputies took 22-year-old Andres Vallejo, of Good Hope, into custody. Vallejo was arrested and booked at Cois Byrd Detention Center for Grand Theft of Livestock. Ranch employees took possession of the horse and returned it to the ranch.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Deputy Joel Holland at the Lake Elsinore Police Station at (951) 245-3300.
