AGUANGA - A brush fire that erupted today in Aguanga burned just over an acre and disrupted traffic near the Cahuilla Indian Reservation before crews got it under control.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 1:25 p.m. in the area of state Route 371 and Sorensen Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews encountered good Samaritans attempting to contain the brusher, which was paralleling Sorensen, according to reports from the scene.

Travel along the roadway was stopped at one point, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The reservation is less than a mile to the east.

Firefighters completely contained the fire by 2:15 p.m.

The cause was under investigation.
