Menifee woman killed in rollover crash on I-215

ROMOLAND - A 71-year-old Menifee woman was killed on Wednesday, May 15 when her SUV rolled over on the northbound shoulder of Interstate 215, just south of State Route 74 and she was ejected from the vehicle.

The unidentified woman was traveling north on I-215 at around 3 p.m. when witnesses said she drifted onto the dirt shoulder, lost control, rolled her 2002 Ford Explorer over, and collided with a chain link fence.

According to CHP Officer Mike Lassig, the driver was not wearing her seatbelt, which resulted in her being ejected from the Ford Explorer and sustaining fatal injuries. CalFire Riverside pronounced her dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in this traffic collision and no lanes were closed.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP), Temecula Area is conducting this traffic collision investigation. If any motorist observed this traffic collision, they are urged to call (951) 506-2000.

The CHP would like to remind all motorists to always buckle up, seat-belts save lives.
