HS Baseball: Temecula Valley heating up as playoffs begin, stun San Dimas in first round opener

Junior right-hander James Wambold guides the Temecula Valley High School Golden Bears past Millikan High School in a wild-card matchup that set the stage for a first-round victory against San Dimas Friday, May 3.

The Temecula Valley High School Golden Bears got off to a shaky start this season. In fact, they were 3-10 at one point, but that was then and this is now. After going 13-4 to finish the regular season, Temecula Valley clinched a tie for second place in the Southwestern League, earning a wild-card bid in the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs. Behind the arm of junior James Wambold, Temecula Valley rallied to beat Millikan High School 3-0 in that wild-card game Wednesday, May 1.
