IDYLLWILD - Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District (RivCoParks) announces the 41st annual Wildflower Show at the Idyllwild Nature Center located at 25225 Highway 243 in Idyllwild this Memorial Day Weekend.

The show is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26.

Highway 243 will open Memorial Weekend for the first time since the heavy rains of this past February damaged travel routes in the region.

A presentation will be made by local naturalist and popular lecturer Bruce Watts, who has spent many years photographing wildflowers in the region. He will discuss the explosion of wildflowers call "fire followers," which have been rising from the ashes of the area's scorched earth and dotting the landscape with incredibly beautiful colors.

Last season's wildfires and an abundance of rain have created perfect conditions for wildflowers to grow this spring. Super Blooms have already been rolling out across California in recent months.

Amateur and seasoned nature lovers are excited to see, smell, and take pictures of the abundant beauty. This year's wildflower exhibit will contain many more displays than in recent years, with stunning larger blooms.

The Wildflower Show will include guided nature walks, music, arts and crafts, and native food tasting. This event is kid and pet-friendly. Entry fee is $4 for adults, $3 for children under 12 years old, and $1 dogs.
