Local man assists with rattlesnake aversion classes for dogs

Rattlesnake expert Johnathan Schmidt gets down and dirty with a venomous serpent he has been called out to capture and relocate.

Johnathan Schmidt is no stranger to venomous snakes. For the last couple of years, he has been capturing and relocating rattlesnakes, keeping snakes, people and pets safe in Anza.

Besides relocating rattlers, Schmidt has assisted biologists in their studies of local species and has now expanded into handling snakes in rattlesnake aversion classes for dogs.

Snakes and their welfare are his passion and he uses his skills in handling them to teach others about these fascinating creatures. He created the Southern California Buzztail Preservation nonprofit organization to further teach about r...
