 Riverside County's jobless rate drops below 4%

RIVERSIDE – Payroll gains throughout the regional economy pushed Riverside County's unemployment rate below 4% last month, state officials reported Friday, May 17.  

The jobless rate in April, based on preliminary estimates, was 3.8%, compared to 4.6% in March, according to the California Employment Development Department.

The rate was one-fifth of a percentage point lower than the year-ago level, when countywide unemployment stood at 4% even.

The record low for the county was set in May 2018, when the unemployment rate dropped to 3.7%.

Roughly 41,300 residents were out of work in April...
