TEMECULA - A 21-year-old Temecula man was arrested on suspicion of committing armed robberies in Temecula and Menifee, authorities said Wednesday, May 29.

Deputies responded to a call of an armed robbery in the 31900 block of Rancho California Road in Temecula about 12:15 a.m. Monday, but the suspect had left the scene prior to their arrival, according to Sgt. Russell Hilton of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

A short time later, a suspect matching the same description committed another armed robbery in Menifee, Hilton said.

An investigation led deputies to arrest Joshua Phillips, who was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on multiple charges

including robbery and possession of a stolen firearm, Hilton said. The exact time and location where Phillips was taken into custody was not disclosed.

Anyone with information about these armed robberies was asked to call Investigator Marquez at the sheriff's Temecula Station at 951-696-3000.
