TEMECULA – Professional dancer Tavio Morales and his amateur dance partner and student Maria Swanson have won the 2019 World Dance-O-Rama Championships in the Women’s Latin Division, which was recently held in San Diego. The pro-am couple from the Arthur Murray Dance Center in Temecula placed first in all Latin dances, winning the coveted first place trophy and a scholarship for Swanson’s dance training.

Morales, owner of the Arthur Murray Dance Center, said, “Maria is incredibly talented but also works very hard to be the best she can be. I was confident going into the competition that we would be in the top few couples, but it was so awesome to actually win the title.”

Swanson has been taking lessons with Morales at the Arthur Murray Dance Center in Temecula for seven years.

“I compete at ballroom and Latin dance competitions about three times a year. The training keeps me in excellent physical condition. I was thrilled to win the Women’s Latin championship. The arduous training really paid off,” Swanson said.

Morales and Swanson plan to defend their title in the 2020 World Dance-Rama Championships.
