Blaze burns near houses in north Perris

PERRIS - A grass fire that broke out on Thursday, May 30 on the north end of Perris blackened about two acres before crews got it under control.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 11:35 a.m. in the 4600 block of Nevada Avenue, just south of Harley Knox Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in dry grass, moving toward several residential properties.

Firefighters were able to quickly encircle the blaze, preventing it from threatening structures, according to reports from the scene.

The fire was declared fully contained by noon.

The cause was under investigation.
