VFW Post 4089, city of Temecula hosts first Memorial Day Remembrance

The battlefield cross sculpture stands watch as Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington addresses the crowd gathered for the first-ever Memorial Day Remembrance at the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Temecula Duck Pond.

Members of the community, veterans, relatives, family members and descendants of those that served in the United States military gathered Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, at the new Fallen Heroes Memorial at Temecula Duck Pond.

Retired U.S. Marine Sgt. Maj. David Barragan served as host for the event and welcomed the more than 200 people in attendance.

"Welcome to our first annual Memorial Day Remembrance at the Temecula Fallen Heroes Memorial monument," Barragan said. "VFW Post 4089 is proud to conduct the ceremony in partnership with the city of Temecula."
