19-year-old Lake Elsinore resident killed in hit-and-run

LAKE ELSINORE - A 19-year-old Lake Elsinore man was identified by the Riverside County Coroner as the victim of a hit-and-run incident at 10:58 p.m. Wednesday, June 12.

Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station responded to a hit-and-run traffic collision on the 19600 block of Palomar Road in Lake Elsinore learned Daniel Hernandez, 19, of Lake Elsinore was riding his skateboard near the westbound bicycle lane of Palomar Road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the westbound lane.

According to Sergeant Steve Jimenez, the driver of the vehicle briefly slowed and then continued west on Palomar Road.

Hernandez was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to Sgt. Jimenez, the Lake Elsinore Traffic Team is conducting a full investigation into the cause of the collision. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs will be a factor in this collision.
