HEMET - A man who robbed a Hemet liquor store was at large on Thursday, June 20, and authorities sought the public's help to identify him.

The holdup occurred about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday at Liquor Run, 2050 E. Florida Ave., according to the Hemet Police Department.

Lt. Nathan Miller said the suspect burst into the store wearing a dark-colored ski mask and holding a semiautomatic handgun, demanding that the lone clerk empty the cash register, which he did.

The employee was not injured.

After receiving the money, the suspect fled the store, running in an unknown direction. Miller said patrol officers swarmed the area but could not find him.

He was described as black, thinly built, 20-25 years old, wearing a red hoodie sweatshirt and blue-and-black Franklin batting gloves.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the police department at (951) 765-2400.
