Local man takes top honors in cheeseburger eating contest

They had high hopes and drastically unrealistic expectations before they started, but full bellies when they left. Most impressive of all, nobody needed the bucket.

Faced with a pile of cheeseburgers and a cup of water, five people nervously sat down at a table to find out who could eat the most in a 10-minute time period at the first Mad Madeline's Grill Cheeseburger Eating Contest in front of the restaurant in Old Town Temecula Friday, June 14.
