Four people arrested in search for cultivation of marijuana, running chop shop

Jesse Hobkirk and Ruben Renteria were two of the people arrested during the serving of a search warrant on Thursday, June 20.

FRENCH VALLEY - The Southwest Sheriff's Station Special Enforcement Team reported the ending of a week-long investigation regarding the suspected illegal cultivation of marijuana in the unincorporated area of French Valley that resulted in the arrest of six people on Thursday, June 20.

After collecting evidence and obtaining a search warrant, the Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at rural property in the 32300 block of Yates Road.

Once on the property, deputies found three large greenhouses, which had been "erected on the property for the sole purpose of operating an illegal marijuana grow." Deputies also found two stolen vehicles in a garage which were in the process of being stripped.

Six people were found on the property and four were arrested for an assortment of criminal offenses. Jesse Hobkirk was arrested for running a chop shop operation, maintaining a drug house, and illegal cultivation of marijuana. Ruben Renteria was arrested on a felony warrant for drug violations and possession of stolen property. And Britain Wilson and Jose Luis Aguilar were arrested for illegal cultivation of marijuana.

In total, the deputies seized more than 3,300 lbs. of marijuana plants from the property.
