MENIFEE – The Menifee City Council voted unanimously to approve the city’s 5-year capital improvement program at the June 5 city council meeting. The capital improvement plan was developed to advance the goals and objectives of the city’s general plan and provides a working blueprint for sustaining and improving the city’s infrastructure by coordinating strategic planning, financial capacity and the physical development of a variation of projects included in the plan.

There are 145 capital projects identified in the capital improvement plan, which is broken into five project categories: transportation, traffic signals, street improvement and rehabilitation, drainage, facilities and community services department projects. The projects within the capital improvement plan are broken up into four priority levels, with Priority 1 projects being those most likely allocated funding resources to begin implementation in the near term. Capital improvement plan projects are funded through a variety of sources including Measure DD, the city’s 1% sales tax.

“I would like to commend city staff for their hard work and diligence in putting this plan together,” District 2 Councilman Matt Liesemeyer said at the June 5 city council meeting. “I’m excited for residents to see their tax dollars put to work with this plan.”

While the capital improvement plan was adopted by the city council, it is considered a working document and will be revisited annually through 2023-2024 to ensure that it reflects changing community needs, priorities and funding availabilities and opportunities.

“Menifee is growing at a tremendous rate,” City Manager Armando Villa said. “City staff worked incredibly hard and efficiently to ensure that we have a plan to manage that growth and reflects what the City Council and the residents of our city desire for the future.”

Frequent updates on capital improvement projects happening throughout the city will be posted on the city website at
