Subaru shares a whole lot of love

TEMECULA – Bill Brumbaugh, vice president and general manager of John Hine Temecula Subaru surprised Assistance League Temecula Valley at the chapter’s annual meeting when he unveiled the proceeds from the “Share the Love” campaign from November to January. Everyone gasped when they saw the amount – $34,722.

The amount included $32,222 in donations from customers that purchased a new Subaru and an additional $2,500 donation from John Hine Temecula Subaru. The donated funds will sponsor Assistance League Temecula Valley’s Operation School Bell program and provide new clothing for 278 students that live in poverty.

Assistance League has been the beneficiary of “Share the Love” since 2013, and each year the amount donated to Assistance League through the program has grown significantly. The event begins each year in mid-November and runs for six weeks until the beginning of January. Each dealership may choose a local nonprofit organization as a partner for the campaign. Each customer that purchases a Subaru chooses a charity to receive a $250 donation from Subaru.

Brumbaugh, his team Kevin Ohler, director of marketing, Magaly Rivera, service manager and internet director, and guests from corporate Subaru Austin Barwner, district sales manager of North America and Brian Derbyshire, district parts service manager, attended the celebration.

“We are truly appreciative of the continuing support of John Hine Temecula Subaru,” Electra Demos, Assistance League past president and community ambassador, said. “The funds received from the Share the Love event will enable Assistance League to reach out to more children and families in need.”

Assistance League Thrift Shop at 28720 Via Montezuma in Temecula is its main fundraiser. Last year, chapter members volunteered over 31,000 hours of community service on behalf of local families in need. For more information about philanthropic programs or membership information, call (951) 694-8018 or visit http://www.assistanceleagye.or/temecla-valley.
