CORONA - Officers talked a suicidal man off of a Corona freeway overpass he was threatening to jump from, California Highway Patrol officials said.

At about 10:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to reports that a man was running in the lanes of the westbound State Route 91 transition to the southbound Interstate 15.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a man "who made several threats to jump over the bridge,'' according to the CHP.

Officers spoke to the man for about 15 minutes and convinced him to step off the ledge, CHP officials said.

The man, who was not identified, was then transported to a mental health facility.
