HEMET - Officers seized two guns, made multiple arrests and issued 20 fireworks citations in Hemet during the Fourth of July, police said on Saturday, July 6.

The Hemet Police Department handled firework complaints at 149 locations around the city and deployed 12 extra officers between 3 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday to help respond to the higher-than-normal call volume, according to Captain Glen Brock.

In the process, officials also confiscated two firearms and arrested several people suspected of a range of crimes, including drug offenses, weapons violations, drunk driving, and resisting arrest, said Brock.

He did not identify the suspects nor specify how many arrests were made.
