City approves new guidelines for massage therapy establishments

Temecula City Councilmember James "Stew" Stewart talks about the proposed amendment to Temecula Municipal Code that set new guidelines for massage therapy businesses in the city.

The Temecula City Council Tuesday, June 25, unanimously approved an amendment to the Temecula Municipal Code that requires massage therapists and establishments to obtain a permit with the city in order to conduct business within city limits.

The amendment also sets requirements for operation of the establishment, approval, denial, revocation and duration of the permit, transfer of ownership, exemptions, application fees and violations, according to Dale West, an associate planner with the city.
