Jacob Lepe, 21, is suspected of killing a woman in Murrieta on Tuesday, July 9.

MURRIETA - A 21-year-old man was behind bars on Wednesday, July 10 on suspicion of killing a woman in Murrieta on Tuesday, July 9.

Police received a call around 11 a.m. about a family disturbance at a home on Abury Avenue near Grizzly Ridge Drive. The caller told police a man was inside the home "being aggressive towards members of his family,'' Murrieta police Lt. Mark Reid said.

Officers arrived at the home to find a man, later identified as Jacob Lepe, covered in what appeared to be blood standing over a woman -- who was later pronounced dead -- on the side of the residence, Reid said. The suspect did not comply with orders from officers, who took him into custody after deploying a Taser, Reid said.

Police would not reveal the woman's name, age or relationship -- if any -- to Lepe.

He was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center in French Valley on suspicion of murder, and was being held without bail, jail records show.
