CORONA - Five people were injured on Wednesday, July 10 in a collision involving a commuter bus and a box truck on the Riverside (91) Freeway in Corona.

The crash occurred about 2:55 p.m. in the HOV lane on the eastbound 91, just west of the Main Street exit ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Corona Fire Department personnel were the first to reach the location and found the Riverside Transit Agency bus stalled in the fast lane, while the box truck driver had pulled onto the shoulder.

Initially, six people aboard the RTA bus complained of pain, and all but one asked to be taken by ambulance to a hospital for examination, according to the fire department.

The truck driver was not hurt.

RTA officials dispatched a second bus to retrieve stranded passengers, and the disabled bus was towed away.

All eastbound freeway lanes were briefly shut down about 3:25 p.m. to remove the bus from the freeway.
