Canyon Lake residents donate science collection to Murrieta Museum

Canyon Lake residents Paul and Kathi Price pose for a photo with some of the natural science specimens they recently donated to the Murrieta Museum for its "Curiosity Cabinet" built by Derek Hays of Murrieta for an Eagle Scout project.

Paul and Kathi Price of Canyon Lake have quite the natural science collection. Marine, mammal, plant, insect, seashell, reptile and bone specimens are all part of the collection the couple amassed over the years.

But as that collection, 152 specimens total, all gathered before 1965, sat in their home the couple pondered what to do with it and who could benefit from it the most.

Finally, a solution presented itself in the form of an Eagle Scout project by Derek Hays of Murrieta, a "Curiosity Cabinet" at the Murrieta Museum, which opened to the public April 28.
