Wade Kilpatrick, 31, of Murrieta, died in the blast Monday that leveled the two-story property in the 23500 block of Wooden Horse Trail.

MURRIETA - Southern California Gas Co. employees have established a GoFundMe account to help raise funds to ease the burden on the family of a fellow employee who was killed in a Monday, July 15 explosion at a home in Murrieta.

Wade Kilpatrick, 31, of Murrieta, died in the blast Monday that leveled the two-story property in the 23500 block of Wooden Horse Trail.

According to SoCalGas Co. spokeswoman Christine Detz, Kilpatrick had been with the company for 11 years, starting his career as a meter reader. He was a lead technician at the time he died. Kilpatrick is survived by his mother, a sister and six brothers, one of whom also works for SoCalGas, Detz said.

Megan Baker and Olivia Parada are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Wyatt Edgeworth.

"As SoCalGas employees, we are all friends and family," it reads on the account page. "On 7/15/2019 at 12:10 p.m., we unexpectedly lost a brother and friend. Wade was extremely close to his family that he has left behind. We would like to help ease their burden by contributing to his memorial and funeral expenses."

The fundraiser has raised more than $15,000 of the $20,000 goal within 14 hours.
