Caltrans escort truck readies to take motorists up Highway 74 from Hemet to Mountain Center and Idyllwild Saturday, July 6. More than 50 cars at a time were escorted up and down the Feb. 14 storm-damaged highway for 20 hours a day during the Fourth of July holiday. Ames Construction estimates the highway will not be completely repaired and open until late fall or early winter.
