Luis Fernando Alba was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and sexual assault.

TEMECULA - Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigators reported the arrest of a man they said posed as a ride-sharing service driver, picked up a woman, then kidnapped and sexually assaulted her in Temecula before escaping on Sunday, July 14.

According to a report by Sergeant Edmond Seltzer, at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies from the Temecula Sheriff's Station responded to a report of a kidnapping and sexual assault in the area of Temecula Parkway and Redhawk Parkway.

"An adult female victim stated she was sexually assaulted by an adult male who posed as a driver for a ride sharing service," Sgt. Seltzer said. "The victim was waiting for a ride-sharing service driver at a gas station in Pala when a vehicle arrived, and the male driver stated he was her ride. After getting in the vehicle it became apparent to the victim the driver was not a ride-sharing service driver and asked to be let out of the vehicle."

Sgt. Seltzer said the driver refused to let her out of the vehicle and sexually assaulted the woman while in the city of Temecula. The woman was able to exit the vehicle at on Temecula Parkway and called 911.

An investigation revealed the alleged suspect as Luis Fernando Alba of Moreno Valley who was arrested on Monday, July 15 in Moreno Valley during an alleged carjacking investigation that took place a day earlier in Moreno Valley. Investigators were able to discover that it was the same vehicle he used to kidnap and sexually assault the woman.

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact Investigator Cornett at the Temecula Sheriff's Station at (951) 696-3000 or Riverside County Sheriff's Department Dispatch at (951) 776-1099.
